Pupils develop core writing skills through guided compositions using picture prompts, crafting 6-8 complete sentences with basic connectors. With teacher scaffolding including sentence starters and paragraph structure guidance, they learn to organise ideas into clear beginnings, middles and ends – building essential composition foundations.

Our young learners expand their grammar toolkit with adjectives, adverbs and collective nouns while mastering simple past tense. Through dialogues and personal storytelling, they practise question words, compound sentences and thematic vocabulary – applying new concepts in meaningful written and spoken contexts.

Progressing to slightly longer theme-based passages, Primary 2 students now tackle gaps requiring verbs, adjectives or prepositions. While word banks remain supportive, pupils develop independence by using full-sentence context clues – often reinforcing vocabulary from familiar STELLAR stories through engaging gap-fill exercises.

Building on literal understanding, pupils now explore short stories and informational texts by answering “who/what/where/when” questions while identifying simple cause-effect relationships. Picture-based activities evolve to include more sophisticated inference skills, bridging visual and textual analysis.

Through structured speaking activities, pupils progress from simple labelling to delivering 3-5 connected sentences about visual scenes. Guided by “5W” prompts, they practise including key details like actions, locations and descriptions – developing clearer, more fluent self-expression with growing confidence.

Children hone active listening skills through relatable audio content about daily life. Activities progress to following two-step instructions and extracting key details from familiar dialogues – whether about school routines, weather or family conversations – building crucial auditory processing abilities.
