Science is the study of the world around us. Your young scientist will learn about the world around them by observing, describing, and experimenting in this fun class.
RGC Future School’s Primary Two Fun Science programme brings your young scientist on a journey of fun experiments and concepts to open the world of science to them.
Doing science isn’t just for scientists and engineers. Rather it’s a way of learning about the world and this comes naturally for your children, and is easily encouraged.
We want to kick their curiosity into high gear as they build confidence in asking and writing questions, learn proper recording and answering techniques and develop and improve critical thinking skills by relating evidence and making conclusions.
We don’t just give the facts. We inspire them to ask questions.
A common mistake by parents and teachers is to only provide facts or a quick answer to a child’s question. While this is sometimes helpful and often convenient, it results in a stunted learning experience. It also trains them to find and give answers without really thinking through and understanding the how or why.
At RGC, we don’t do that. Our Fun Science programme is about encouraging our young scientist’s curiosity and engaging them in the science process as they ask questions. We guide them to answer things themselves by asking them questions like:
- What do you think?
- How does it work?
- Why do you think that?
- What is the cause?
- What would happen if…?
- How might we test it to see if it’s true?
They’ll have great fun as they explore things like ice cream, their own fingerprints, colours and much much more.
